💊 How I Got Natural Desiccated Thyroid in The UK | Issue 184
The thyroid medication that changed (and saved) my life.
In this weeks newsletter, I am answering a question I was asked twice on Instagram last week:
How I’ve managed to be on Armour Thyroid, a brand of NDT (natural desiccated thyroid medication) whilst in the UK. After all, it is really not easy to obtain this medication here.

Thursday Thoughts
On Levothyroxine for my hypothyroidism, I only felt worse. Symptoms mounted up and I was made to feel like a hypochondriac, as no doctor would believe me or listen to my concerns that I just wasn’t responding to this medication.
Symptoms I had while on Levothyroxine included, but were not limited to:
Fatigue
Muscle aches and pains
Brain fog
Confusion
Long recovery period after exercise, working or socialising
Brittle hair and nails
Sensitivity to cold (cold hands and feet)
Poor appetite
Weight gain
Inability to lose weight,
Slow in movement, thoughts and speech
Hoarse voice
Thinned eyebrows
Constipation
Acid reflux
Migraines
Anxiety
Dry and tight skin
Joint Stiffness and pain
Hot flushes
Depression
Numbness in limbs
Feeling very emotional all the time
Restless legs
After doing a lot of personal research, I concluded that I wanted to try another type of thyroid hormone replacement medication, namely NDT (natural desiccated thyroid).
Whereas Levothyroxine was synthetic and replaced one missing thyroid hormone, NDT contained all of them and skipped the need for my body to convert storage thyroid hormone to active thyroid hormone. I had come across countless case studies online about it making a huge difference and I needed my life back.
But just how did I go about getting it? This is where I embarked on a huge learning curve! I popped on down to my NHS GP and asked for NDT.
